Howdy! I'm Chuck Neighbors '54. A week ago, April 8th in Washington D.C., I arranged a luncheon meeting with three of my earliest mentors: Clayton Selph '51, Dean Reed '51 and Frank Manitzas '52. Clayton and Frank are former Battalion editors, Dean and I are former managing editors. I managed to locate these three stellar Aggies and with Dean's hospitality (he's a member of the NPC), we were able to get together as a group for the first time since 1951.
I'm not sure that's a record, but if it isn't it ought to be. Dean, Frank and I are still active in our respective fields: PR and lobbying in D.C. for Dean, Latin American journalism for Frank (he retired as Latin America Bureau Chief for ABC News) and book publishing and editing for me. Clayton is twice retired and plans to stay that way (colonel USAF, followed by a second career with Unisys Corp. in Virginia).
We would all like very much to hear from classmates and colleagues. Just today, I spoke with John Whitmore '52, another Batt editor. Coincidentally, at different times during our careers, Dean, Frank, John and I each worked for a McGraw-Hill business magazine or news service.
